What You and Your Family Should Know Before Trunk or Treat
Halloween is right around the corner! Looking for somewhere fun and safe to take the kiddos this Halloween? Keep reading to learn more about the sixth annual Trunk or Treat, put on by Fournier’s Leadership Karate on 39 Mechanic Street in Westbrook on October 29th!
What’s Going On This Year?
Look no further than Fournier’s Leadership Karate on 39 Mechanic Street in Westbrook. Starting at 5:30 P.M. on Friday, October 29th, Fournier’s will be holding its sixth annual Trunk or Treat!
With Halloween on Main Street canceled this year due to ongoing construction, this is the perfect opportunity to get the kids out in the crisp autumn air to show off and see some wonderful costumes! Parents are invited to set up trunks for kids to trick or treat at, just don’t make them too scary!
This year parents and kids will get a chance to show off, as there will be contests for the best trunk, voted on by the trick or treaters, and best costumes, voted on by the parents. Prizes will be awarded to the top three vote-getters in both categories. Don’t forget to warm up inside to vote, as well as take a photo in front of their Halloween photo wall!
Parents interested in setting up trunks have been asked to let Fournier’s know by commenting on their Facebook page. Setup begins at 5:00 P.M. so that trick or treating (or trunk or treating!) can begin at 5:30. It’s sure to be a great time for the whole family, no matter what age you may be!
Looking For Costume Ideas?
If you’re looking for costumes, you can go the store-bought route in the Halloween sections of Wal-Mart, Party City, Target, and of course the seasonal Spirit of Halloween store. This year, it’s occupying the former location of Sears at the Maine Mall.
DIY Costumes Are Always Welcome!
But if you’re interested in a DIY costume, there’s always the tried-and-true toilet paper mummy. What better way to get some use out of all the tissue you’ve still got leftover from overbuying last year?
Or another classic is being a zombie of any stripe with a little green makeup and a football jersey…now you’ve got yourself a zombie football player! Find your inner pirate by donning an eye patch and having a willingness to call everyone a “scallywag” which can go a long way.
The beauty of this holiday is the sky is the limit. Halloween’s all about fun and creativity, so throw something together and get out there with your friends and neighbors.
Oh, and don’t forget the candy. Lots of candy. It’s sure to be a fun time at this year’s Trunk or Treat, and we hope to see everyone there!
