A River Runs Through Us in Westbrook
Westbrook is a beautiful city made up of unique neighborhoods and rich history. The thing that ties us all together is the Presumpscot River, winding through our city and inspires us to stop a minute and appreciate the views from our Riverwalk or get out on the water at one of our many boat launches.

What is Run the River?
On Saturday, October 15th at 9:00 am, Run the River is a celebration of the Presumpscot River, with a route that follows along the river and Riverwalk at the beginning of our foliage season, October. Take a deep breath of the clean air, hear the rush of the river, see the city on foot, and notice businesses and historical markers that you might never notice via car.
This race brings together people of all abilities, so whether you’re a competitive runner looking to set a new personal (or race!) record, a walker, or a casual jogger, we invite you to join us at this event! This race features a 5K and a K9 5K (canicross), so it’s fun for the whole family– including your BFF (best furry friend!) There are prizes for top male, female, nonbinary, and K9 runners.
Join Us in Celebrating the Many Diverse Businesses in Westbrook
We also celebrate the diverse businesses in Westbrook with Run the River, with the route following over Riverwalk behind many businesses we dine and shop at every week! We invite you to join us at our packet pick-up parties at some of these local businesses:
Thursday, October 13th, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Mast Landing on Main Street, or Friday, October 14th, from 6:00-8:00 at Wessie’s Den on Brown Street. We will also be holding a fabulously fun afterparty at Mast Landing on Saturday, October 15th, from 12:00-3:00 pm, with food available to purchase through some of our excellent downtown restaurants.
Whether you’re new to Westbrook or a local yokel, this race is a celebration of all things good in the ‘Brook, and we hope to see you there!
Registration is available online through October 14th or in person at any of our packet pick-up events for just $30. You can also register with us on race day, beginning at 8:00 am, for $40.
